Company Information
First Point Scientific,
Inc. (FPSI) is a small California corporation, which was established in 1993
and now has 5000 square feet of office and lab space. The company develops novel
concepts up to the point that they are fully demonstrated and then either manufactures
and markets equipment directly or licenses the technology to larger companies
that are leaders in the marketplace for full-scale manufacturing and marketing.
In some cases FPSI serves as an OEM supplier to other companies.
The professional staff
consists of four Ph.D. level physicists. Dr. John R. Bayless, the President,
Dr. Craig P. Burkhart, Dr. Rod Greaves and Dr. Jeremy Moxom. All have extensive experience
in commercializing new technologies. This includes conceptualization, development,
manufacture, marketing, and delivery of sophisticated systems under fixed-price
orders.
FPSI has expertise
in the following technologies:
- Positron
beam systems -
FPSI has an extensive program to develop technology and
products based on the accumulation of positrons in traps.
- Pulsed
power -
FPSI has developed an array of all-solid-state pulse modulators based
on its patented Miniature Inductive Adder concept.
- Neutron
generators -
FPSI has developed a sealed generator of ~2.5 MeV neutrons
that has a demonstrated operating lifetime of 3,000 hours at output flux
of 108 neutrons/sec.
- Compact
high voltage power supplies -
The Company has developed compact 100 kV power
supplies and supplies with floating decks.
- Novel
high voltage (up to 300 kV) electron guns -
FPSI personnel have developed
both linear (up to 5X150 cm2) and cylindrical (radially inward
into a 7 inch-i.d. duct)
electron guns operating at beam voltages of up to 175 kV.
- Linear
induction accelerators -
FPSI has developed a compact (4 inch diameter)
accelerator with a beam energy of 1 MeV.
- Radiation
processing - The Company has performed several projects
involving
electron beam polymerization of monomers to produce novel coatings and structures.
- Lasers -
FPSI developed and demonstrated a 0.5 J/pulse, 30 Hz far infrared laser
operating at a wavelength of 152 µm. This laser was pumped by an E-beam ionized,
30
J/pulse CO2 laser operating in a single longitudinal mode.
- Oil
well logging instruments -
FPSI has completed several projects to develop x-ray
and neutron generators for use in wire line and MWD logging instruments.
- Air
pollution control -
FPSI has performed several projects to develop both E-beam
and pulsed corona discharge concepts for air pollution control applications.
- Advanced
Mass Spectrometry - FPSI has extensive experience in a variety
of mass spectrometry
techniques.
