Positron
Source and Moderator System (RGM-1)
These turnkey
positron beam systems, with an output of up to to 107 positrons
per sec., include equipment for producing solid neon moderators,
radiation shielding for sources of up to 150 mCi (22Na),
magnetic beam transport, and fixturing for loading and unloading
source capsules with minimum radiation exposure. The system
is delivered with all required vacuum equipment, magnetic field
coils, computer control system etc. The user is required to
obtain a suitable radioactive source directly from the manufacturer.
Features:
- State
of the art positron beam performance:
- High
efficiency: 8 million positrons from 50 mCi 22Na
- Narrow
energy spread, typical 1.7 eV
- Long
moderator lifetime: <5% decay per day
- Moderators
grown automatically under computer control (Labview interface,
source code supplied)
- Rapid
moderator growth: 20 min typical
- Simple
installation of radioactive source using supplied
handling tools.
